Our First E-newsletter!

This was our e-newsletter that was sent out to those that signed up. If you are interested in receiving it, please send an email to and put 'sign me up' in the subject line.

Welcome Residents;

To our first ever e-newsletter from the Township of Assiginack!
We hope this is a way to reach you periodically throughout the year to keep you informed of the fun happenings in our amazing community.

We are so excited to be hosting the 2nd Annual Manitoulin Deer Show on August 22, 2015, and giving away 3 firearms and many more prizes! We are actively collecting venison recipes to turn into a cookbook with a chance to win a firearm, bring in a mount to enter to win a firearm, speakers from Rackstacker and OFAH are attending, a target shooting contest and so much more. Check out the details on our website at We even have t shirts for $15 to promote the event if you want to celebrate the Manitoulin Deer Show!

Our popular summer recreation program starts up the 1st of July with a Canada Day party at the beach including games, barbecue, and cardboard boat races for young and old!  Thanks to a grant from Hydro One, we have revitalized our beach, so please drop by. Check out the info on our website at

Assiginack Museum
Our museum welcomes a new curator – Kelsey Maguire who joins us with a fresh view and many plans for our museum.

Manitowaning Edible Gardens
Once again we are promoting edible gardens throughout the community. The Township just created its third edible garden at the turn off to Wikwemikong. All our produce grown is given to the local food bank.

Assiginack Recycles
In June, we started a campaign to encourage recycling. Our landfill is showing a 50% decrease in recycling over the past 2 years, and we want to preserve not only our landfill but our environment as a whole. We are asking everyone to do their part.

Assiginack Shops Local
We also felt it important to encourage our community to shop local. We are so lucky to have so many local businesses in town and they all give so much back to the community; because of this, we are promoting: SHOP LOCAL / EAT LOCAL / SPEND LOCAL / ENJOY LOCAL!

Lastly, we are really trying to use social media as a means to communicate. We would love it if you would follow us on your favourite social media platform.  Search “Assiginack Township”
