Fun Winter Events!

Bring the kids out for a public skate on Monday when they are home from school!

For the 3rd year, Assiginack is hosting a contest to find hidden things throughout the Township.  For the past two years it was candy canes.  This year it is wooden snowmen! Twenty 2 foot snowmen are hidden all over the township.  Hints are first released on our facebook page (Township of Assiginack) on a regular basis between December 1st and 31st with a weekly summary of hints found on our website and posters around town.

In order to play you have to take the numbered hint and find the snowman.  You simply can’t write down the location as each snowman is numbered so that you must actually go to the location and record the number found on the snowman with the location.   Up for grabs is $400 in gift certificates from local businesses!

Once you have found all 20 snowmen, drop off your list to the municipal office or email it to info@assiginack.ca.   The draw will be done on January 3, 2017.

Sign up the kids for some makerspace activities!

Deer Contest with Cash Prizes!

QDMA (Quality Deer Management Association) and the Township of Assiginack have partnered to run a contest during the week of rifle season with cash prizes.

The QDMA's mission is to ensure the future of white-tailed deer, wildlife habitat and our hunting heritage. Among the QDMA's current members are nearly 3,000 of the world’s leading deer management professionals. Their collective knowledge enables the QDMA and its members to remain at the forefront of deer biology, research, and management.

The local chapter of QDMA and the Assiginack Township are hosting a contest to encourage hunters to bring in their does, bucks or fawns for the purpose of collecting data. In return the hunter’s name will go into a draw for each of the 3 categories of buck, doe and fawn and a $100 cash prize will be awarded to a winner in each division.
The contest will run on Tuesday November 22nd and Thursday November 24th from 7-9 pm at White’s Shell garage where members of QDMA will be there to weigh and measure the deer.

Manitoulin QDMA branch is always looking for new members. If interested in helping or learning what QDMA is all about, come and see us at the weigh in or feel free to call the President - Peter Craig. Thanks for helping keep deer hunting great on Manitoulin!  For further information call Peter Craig at 705 282 7163.
